Toy Packaging Artwork Approval Checklist for Retail Packs
Approve retail-ready fidget toy packaging with a versioned dieline, contents list, fit sample, barcode placement and print proof before production.
Approve a complete pack, not just a design file.
Retail ready fidget toy packaging needs a defined sellable unit, a pack that fits and the correct approved information. Start with the SKU, quantity in the pack, sales market, sales channel and pack format. Keep the file revision tied to the physical sample.
A digital proof checks the design layout. A blank sample checks structure and fit. A printed assembled sample checks their combination. Confirm which proofs your project needs and what each approval covers.
The toy packaging artwork approval checklist.
| Gate | What to record | Hold approval when |
|---|---|---|
| Contents | SKU and version, pieces per pack and any insert or accessory | The quoted unit and retail contents do not match. |
| Dieline | Finished dimensions, folds, cut lines, closure and revision | The chosen product or insert has not been fit-checked. |
| Artwork | File name, revision, language, copy owner and print setup | Two suppliers are working from different versions. |
| Product information | Required text and warnings supplied or reviewed for the exact product and market | Approval ownership or required content remains unresolved. |
| Barcode | Seller-approved file, product mapping, position and scan-check method | The label points to a different SKU or conflicts with channel instructions. |
| Physical proof | Sample ID, fit and closure photos, contents and print observations | No one has checked the agreed physical proof. |
| Commercial approval | Print quantity, setup, assembly, unused packs and carton changes | Costs or quantities are still pending. |
| Release file | Final revision, named approver, date and superseded files | “Latest version” is not identified by a stable reference. |
A packaging change needs a before-and-after record.
Record why the pack changes: fit, protection, presentation, pack count or another documented reason. Capture old and new dimensions, units per carton, carton count, packaging price, setup, assembly and the revised freight quote. Attach dated photos and the supplier quote references.
Changing box size can change case pack and shipment volume. Do not claim a saving from a smaller box unless the approved packing and the quoted freight actually support it. No completed customer packaging-change case is published here yet.
Illustrative CBM calculation for a changed pack.
Assume 600 units stay at 60 units per carton: 10 cartons. Old outer cartons are 40 × 30 × 30 cm: 0.036 m³ each, 0.360 m³ total. Revised outer cartons are 40 × 30 × 25 cm: 0.030 m³ each, 0.300 m³ total. The arithmetic difference is 0.060 m³, or 16.7% of the original volume.
These dimensions are invented for illustration. They are not a measured improvement, a customer case or a freight discount. Actual strength, fit, gross weight, pallet allowance, minimum freight charges and handling still need confirmation.
Carry the right files into the next order.
Record remaining printed stock by revision. An old box can still be unusable if its product contents, barcode or required information changes. Check the new print MOQ and the cost of unused stock before choosing a reorder quantity.
