Private Label Squishy Costs: 120 vs 300 vs 600 Units
Compare illustrative private label squishy costs at 120, 300 and 600 units. Separate products, packaging, samples, services, inspection and freight.
Start with the order feasibility.
120, 300 and 600 units are comparison quantities, not promised MOQs. A proposed quantity must first meet the selected product minimum and the packaging supplier minimum. If it does not, compare a different stock SKU, a different pack or the confirmed higher order quantity.
For context, the catalog minimum for the 3.5 cm cube is 264 units; the 6 cm cube is 960 units. A 120-unit private label order is not assumed possible for either product.
An explicit, illustrative cost model.
These are invented planning inputs for teaching the calculation, not our prices or supplier quotes. All amounts are USD. Assume products at $0.60 per unit and packaging at $0.12 per unit. Fixed amounts: packaging setup $45, sample work $35, sourcing service $30, inspection $60 and freight $90. Fixed total: $260.
For this simplified comparison, fixed amounts stay the same at all three quantities. Actual freight, inspection, print minimums and service scope can change with order size. Duties, taxes, payment charges and destination extras are excluded.
| Order units | Products | Packaging | Fixed costs | Planning subtotal | Subtotal / unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 120 | $72.00 | $14.40 | $260.00 | $346.40 | $2.887 |
| 300 | $180.00 | $36.00 | $260.00 | $476.00 | $1.587 |
| 600 | $360.00 | $72.00 | $260.00 | $692.00 | $1.153 |
Read the result without losing the exclusions.
Fixed setup work is spread over more units as the quantity rises. That explains the lower planning cost per unit; it does not prove that buying more stock is the best commercial decision. Unsold stock, cash tied up and a later packaging revision can outweigh the apparent saving.
If a printer requires 600 boxes but the toy order is 300 units, price all 600 printed boxes and record what happens to the unused half. Do not multiply only the 300 assembled units and hide the remaining print cost.
