Define the exact saleable unit
A toy sold individually, a four-piece set and a counter display are different units. Before asking a factory to pack for Amazon, confirm the quantity the customer receives and how those pieces are kept together. Your product identifier, label file and packing instruction must all refer to that same unit. One master carton can contain many saleable units.
Use the current rules for your marketplace
Amazon requirements depend on the marketplace, product and account workflow. Read the applicable Seller Central packaging, barcode and shipment guidance when you prepare the order. Static online checklists can be out of date. Save the requirements and label files used for the shipment so a prep team has a clear reference instead of relying on a previous batch.
Build a label handover sheet
Create one row for each saleable SKU: product reference, approved unit-label file, retail-pack version, units per carton and carton identifiers. Add the final carton dimensions and weight once packing is complete. Ask the prep team to photograph one finished unit and the corresponding carton as an agreed check. Keep old label files out of the production folder so a revised shipment does not inherit an obsolete box ID.
Separate compliance from preparation
FBA prep can include packaging, labeling and carton records. It does not establish whether a toy meets the safety rules in its destination market. Determine the applicable product testing, warnings, age grading and documentation with qualified support. Magnets, batteries, small parts and liquid or gel fillings deserve specific attention. Do not treat a general certificate as proof for every variation.
Match barcode files to the right SKU
Provide the barcode type and files appropriate to the listing and current Amazon workflow. Ask for a first-unit photograph and sample scan on the finished package. Check for other codes that could create scanning confusion and confirm their treatment against the current rules. Keep a written mapping of your internal SKU, supplier SKU and saleable-unit identifier.
Make the carton record before dispatch
For each final carton, record its contents, quantities, dimensions and gross weight. Provide the correct shipment labels after the relevant shipment plan is created. A mixed-SKU carton requires a more detailed record than a single-SKU carton and must fit the chosen receiving workflow. Recheck the record if a packer adds protective material or splits a carton.
Agree who owns the last check
Name the party responsible for approving labels, carton data and shipment release. If a freight provider handles the final delivery, confirm their requirements as well. Keep photos and the packing list with the order record. Neither applying an FBA label nor booking a door-to-door service guarantees receiving acceptance or listing approval.
